Frank and Rita Kaler's well is contaminated by poisons from a nearby landfill. Though vegetables turn black when Rita tries to cook, local and state officials assure the Kaler's their family's water is safe to drink. Further testing reveals they could have been using their drinking water as paint remover. Frank warns the neighbors and testifies before the US Senate. The government refuses to help.
